Letter to the Editor γ-ray evidence for galactic in-situ electron acceleration

چکیده
Evidence for the possible existence of a strong flux of low-energy (< 10 MeV) cosmic ray electrons in the Galaxy has been recently established by GINGA, OSSE and COMPTEL observations of the diffuse galactic gamma ray continuum emission down to photon energies below 50 keV. We explain the implied presence of many low-energy cosmic ray electrons with the existence of interstellar in-situ reacceleration of cosmic ray particles by the ambient interstellar plasma turbulence.

Time-dependent Synchrotron and Compton Spectra from Microquasar Jets
Jet models for the high-energy emission of Galactic X-ray binary sources have regained significant interest with detailed spectral and timing studies of the X-ray emission from microquasars, the recent detection by the HESS collaboration of very-high-energy $\gamma$-rays from the microquasar LS~5039, and the earlier suggestion of jet models for ultraluminous X-ray sources observed in many nearb...

متن کاملAgn Models: High-energy Emission
Astrophysical models for the high-energy emission of blazars are reviewed. Blazars ejecting relativistic radio jets at small angles to the line-of-sight are the only type of active galactic nuclei (AGN) discovered above 100 MeV. The γ-rays apparently originate in the jets which explains the absence of γ-ray pair creation attenuation. The bulk Lorentz factor of the radio jets is much smaller tha...
متن کاملLetter to the Editor Evidence from Voyager and ISEE-3 spacecraft Data for the decay of secondary K-electron capture isotopes during the propagation of cosmic rays in the Galaxy
New data from the cosmic ray experiment on the Voyager spacecraft confirms and extends earlier data from a similar experiment on the ISEE-3 spacecraft which indicates the possibility of the decay of certain K-capture isotopes during the interstellar propagation of galactic cosmic rays. These cosmic ray measurements, along with the cross section measurements, indicate that ∼ 25% of the K-capture...
